• What does the stock market do?

It provides a  company that wants to grow, maybe build more factories, hire more people, or develop new products—it needs money. It could get a loan from a bank. But then it would owe money. By issuing stock, a company can raise money without going into debt.

• Why does it do it?

To help supply money to a company whats to get bigger and greater.
